Taylor Swift is Taylor Alison Swift. Taylor Swift is an American country and pop singer-songwriter. The stories of Taylor Swift's songs are about the heartache of a young girl. Swift started to exhibit an interest in the music industry as early as age. Her career progressed rapidly from children's play roles, through her first appearance on stage in crowds of people. Swift in 2011, aged 11 at the time, performed The Star-Spangled Banner during a Philadelphia 76ers' basketball game. The year after that she began to write songs of her own. Drawing inspiration from country music artists such as Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks (now the Chicks) Swift crafted original songs that were a reflection of her own experiences of being a tween and feeling alienated. Swift's parents moved her from Pennsylvania to Tennessee at the age of 13 when they decided to sell their Pennsylvania farm. It gave Swift to devote more time trying to find labels that would promote the country genre in Nashville.
